My favorite honey facial mask

I’ve been using honey as my facial mask lately and I have to say I LOVE IT!

I can totally feel that my skin is much more smooth, less redness (yes, I used to have this problem especially everytime I go out under the sun,) and less acne breakouts.

So here I am going to share how I do it so that you can give it a try too! :)

  • Take one tablespoon of honey. I recommend you to use Manuka Honey but if you don’t have it, any honey will do.
  • Take one-third tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive oil. Mix it well with the honey.
  • Apply the mixture onto skin.
  • Leave it for 15minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water and end it with cold water.
  • Dry with clean towel.

There you go! And you can try this every morning and at night. A good, natural, no-side-effect facial mask. LOVE IT!

My friend shared a post link few weeks ago about the use of honey as facial mask. I have to say, these days, I am very much into all sorts of natural face treatment. Honey mask, extra virgin olive oil facial mask, the use of lemon juice on acne etc.

So the other day, I bumped into this one type of honey, Manuka Honey. It’s a product from New Zealand and the honey is extracted from the bee hives of bees that only feed on this one type of plant called Manuka.  It contains many benefits as it can act as antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory contingent.

My journey on finding the best acne treatment

Just like you, I used to have a pretty bad acne problem. I was a teenager and was in my senior year in high school. For the first few months when the breakouts first started, I stormed it well and managed to keep it cool. As the breakouts failed to subside and as my face started to “showcase” the many pimples, I absent-mindedly decided to try every single acne cream that was available out there in the market place. I kept switching from one acne solution brand to another.

These acne creams brought more bad news than good news to me. They totally failed to get rid of the acne. For some, they made it worse!

Thankfully I have found my best acne treatment!

This was in 2004 and I bumped into an advertisement in one of my then-favorite teen magazine, J-15. Lo and behold, I learned about PROACTIV ACNE SOLUTION.

Something just clicked instantly with me. I then started to search for Proactiv in many of the local stores. Thankfully, I found it. By this time, I had managed to learn a new good habit; stick with one solution and stick with it long enough to see the result!

*EXTRA TIPS*

  • When I first used it, my skin became red and it went dry a little bit. I checked online and it seems like this is normal. My tips for you is to not to over use it. Use it only once a day if your skin becomes red/dry. Use it once every 2 days if you must.
  • When you apply the cleanser, you will feel a tiny sense of stinging. Again, this is normal. I felt it too at first. Actually,I read it some where that that’s a good thing. But if it continues even days after you used it, I honestly don’t think that’s normal anymore. Quickly stop using it.
  • Try not to wear too much of make up or chemical-contained face cream. In fact, try to avoid perfumed cream. I don’t think it does good to your skin.
  • I know this is cliche but watch what you eat! Be easy on greasy food, spicy food, sweet/soda drinks. Drink lots of water (i drink lots of plain water but i’m not sure if it directly links to my skin, but I heard this advice all the time so I guess it does help).Real life story: I fasted for one month, my face becomes clean, healthy, less breakouts and smooth! So healthy eating does work!
  • I started to see the result almost 3 months after I first used it! Basically, that was 12 long weeks! What I am trying to say is that you need to have patience when it comes to this. Plus, different people have different type of skins. Hence, you may have different results or you might have to wait lesser/longer than me before you see the result.
  • These days, I no longer follow all the 4 steps. I only use the cleanser and I use Clinique moisturizer to moisturize my skin. But remember, I have used this for 6 years. I did follow the 4 steps when I first used Proactiv. So, it”s better if you stick to the steps as a beginner.

I am a BIG FAN of natural face mask. Here’s what I normally do for my face , Oatmeal Honey Face Mask.

  • You will need 1/2 cup of oatmeal
  • You will also need 2 table spoon of honey
  • Finally, 1/2 cup of plain water.
  • Here’s what you do.
  • Grind the oatmeal. Add the plain water and the honey.
  • Mix the mixture.
  • Apply it on your face.
  • Now go lie down on comfy bed and read a good book for 15 minutes.
  • Remember to wash your face with warm water and dry with clean towel.
